Gann and time cycles

Gann worked time as hard as price. The Square of 9, anniversary dates and the degree-to-price bridge are all testable, and testing them gives a mixed answer worth having.

What the technique claims

Gann treated price and time as a single geometry. The Square of 9 arranges numbers in a spiral so that squares and their cardinal and diagonal relationships fall on fixed angles, and levels are read off those angles. Anniversary dates look for turns at fixed intervals from a prior significant high or low.

The degree-to-price bridge converts a planetary longitude to a price level by a scaling constant. That step is where most of the disagreement lives, because the constant is chosen rather than derived.

Where it is testable and where it is not

Anniversary dates are clean: a date is a date, the interval is fixed, and the forward return can be measured against a baseline like any other condition.

The Square of 9 is harder, because the level depends on the anchor pivot you start from, and a method with a free parameter will fit anything in hindsight. The workbench handles this by ranking pivots objectively and disclosing which anchor produced a level, so a reader can see how much of the result rests on that choice.

A technique that cannot be stated precisely enough to test is not evidence against the technique — but it is not evidence for it either, and this platform does not treat it as such.
