Hora timings today
Twenty-four planetary hours, twelve of day and twelve of night, each ruled by a planet in the Chaldean order. They are deliberately unequal, because each is a twelfth of real daylight.

Questions
What is a hora?
A hora is a planetary hour. The day from sunrise to sunset is divided into twelve, and the night into twelve more, each ruled by a planet in the Chaldean order: Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon.
Why are horas not sixty minutes?
Because a hora is one twelfth of actual daylight, not one twenty-fourth of a clock day. In a Mumbai August a daytime hora runs about 64 minutes; in December it is shorter than 60.
About these timings
The figures on this page are astronomical calculations: positions of the Sun and Moon worked out for your city and date. Those are measurements, and they are as exact as the ephemeris behind them.
What the traditions take each one to MEAN — auspicious, inauspicious, favourable for a particular act — is tradition, recorded here as tradition. Nothing on this page is a prediction, and nothing on it is financial advice.
